Hidden Spy Camera-Types, Features, How to Detect, Safety Guidelines -A very small electronic camera, so small that it can be easily installed behind a light bulb, a tube light a fixture on a wall, some where behind the bath room fittings or roof that’s why it is called the hidden camera. This camera is mostly used to take pictures or videos of someone without his consent and knowledge mostly to victimize him for blackmailing. Some times hidden camera is also used by the police to carry out some nature of Investigations therefore it is also called the spy camera. Now a days a number of cases have been reported when criminals and antisocial elements made videos or snaps of some private moments of couples and uploaded them on the web. These incidents mostly happened in the public guest houses, Hotel Rooms, Trial Rooms of tailor shops, Trial Rooms of garment shops, hair cutting saloons, Changing Rooms of beauty parlors, Fitness centers, Jims etc.

Types of Hidden Cameras

Hidden Cameras are broadly divided in two categories Viz- still Camera and Video camera. These are further sub divided into two categories viz wired camera and a wireless camera, A wired camera will be connected to a recording device by a wire but the wireless camera will be connected to a recording device through a blue tooth or any other wireless device.

Wired Hidden Camera

Each camera will have to be connected to the recording device. Wired Hidden Camera will be connected to the recording device and a physical wire will be used to connect the camera to the recording device. 

Wireless Hidden Camera

Wireless camera must also be connected to a recording device but no physical wire connection is used and it will be connected to the recording device wirelessly. A blue tooth or some other similar device may be used.

Legal Status of Hidden/Spy Camera

Legal Status of using hidden cameras is controversial. Different countries have their own different laws. Some countries have no law at all. For example, according to US Code Title 18, Chapter 119, Section 2512, intercept audio communications by a surreptitious manner is contrary to the law. The use of hidden camera by state security agencies against criminals and antisocial element or in the matter of any security issue is accepted as legal in all countries.

(3) Electric Outlets, Common house hold appliances like pinhole-sized holes in clocks, lamps and radios. books, clocks, air purifiers, lamps and artificial flower pot or plants. Any pinhole-sized holes any where on a door or window frame, 

(4) If you are sitting with some one and he offers you a cigarette case to take a cigarette to smoke and puts the cigarette case on the table, beware he may be spying you because Cigarette cases are also reported having hidden camera Installed on it.

(5) If you are sitting with some one and he offers you cold coca-cola cane to drink. beware he may be spying you because the lid of an ordinary looking coca-cola cane may have a camera installed on it.

(6) A gentleman standing before you has a nice buckle on the belt around his waste and nothing looks abnormal in it, every body have nice belt. Just wait, his belt may have a spy camera installed on it’s beautiful buckle and he may be spying you.

(7) Check an unusual spot on you tooth brush. The hidden camera technology is so advance that a spy camera may be installed behind some spot on your tooth brush.

Who are common victims of Hidden/Spy Camera 

1. Young girls in Tailor shops trial rooms, garment shops trial rooms, Changing Rooms of beauty parlors, Fitness centers, Jims.

2. Young Couples and young single girls staying in the hotels overnight for any reason.

3. People at Picnic spots or parks.

4. Business competitors or people having any type of rivalry.

5. People on the target of criminals or anti social elements.

6. People on the surveillance of security agencies.

How to detect a hidden/spy camera 

(1) Detection is as simple as abc and you are always equipped with the hidden camera detection instrument(Your Mobile Hand Set) round the clock. 

(2) Check your smoke detector. Climb up a ladder and get as close as you can to the smoke detector. Take a flashlight and shine it directly onto the grill of the smoke detector. If you see a tiny glass lens, there is a hidden camera. 

(3) If an electrical outlet that has a hidden camera in it, you won't be able to plug anything into it, so make sure all of your electrical outlets are working. 

(4) Care fully look for any pin-sized holes in clocks, lamps and radios You can use a flashlight for this purpose. 

(5) Carefully examine books, clocks, air purifiers, lamps and artificial flower pots or plants with the help of a flashlight. If there is any pin-sized hole, there might be a hidden camera behind it. 

(6) To check a wall mounted mirror flash the light directly on it and gradually move closer to the mirror until touching it. If you see the light penetrating the mirror, or notice the light shining through it, certainly it is a one-way mirror, and may have a hidden camera behind it. 

(7) A hidden camera detector may be used. Many types of hidden camera detectors are available in the market, some of them see the light reflection from the cameras LED . some vibrates, some gave a flash light and others give a beep sound when you are in the close vicinity of the hidden camera. 

(8) Before entering the room check your mobile handset and ensure that it is fully capable of making calls. Now enter the room and dial a number to make a call. If you are unable to make a call on your mobile from in side the room, certainly there is a hidden camera in the room targeting you and you must be careful.This is a sure test. 

Some other precautions against hidden camera 

1. After entering the room check carefully all the wall and roof, if you find some thing unusual, take care.

2. Check for a small led light, if it is there, Tale care.

3. If you have to stay in the hotels frequently with your partner you can purchase an R F signal detector.
